Terms of service
The terms NodeKanban is offered on
What you can expect from the service, what we expect from you, and what the plans actually include. The parts describing how the product behaves are accurate; the parts a lawyer has to settle are marked and unfilled.

Who you are agreeing with
These terms are an agreement between you and [COMPANY LEGAL NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS] (“we”, “us”), covering your use of NodeKanban. Creating an account means you accept them. If you are accepting on behalf of a company, you are confirming that you may bind it.
Your account
- Give a real email address and keep it reachable — it is how we reach you and how you recover access.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your credentials to yourself.
- One account per person. Do not share logins; add people as members instead.
- You must be at least [MINIMUM AGE] to hold an account.
- Tell us promptly at [SECURITY CONTACT EMAIL] if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else.
Organisations, roles and access
Work in NodeKanban belongs to an organisation. Every account gets a personal organisation on sign-up, and may create or join others. Four roles exist — owner, admin, member and viewer — and they decide what each person can do. Access is enforced by the database itself, not merely by the interface.
- An organisation must always keep at least one owner. The last owner cannot be removed or demoted.
- Owners and admins can invite and remove members, and manage invitations. Only owners can delete the organisation or manage billing.
- Invitation links are secrets. They are not emailed by the product — the inviter copies the link and sends it — so anyone who obtains one before it expires can join the organisation at the role it was issued for. Invitations expire after seven days and can be revoked at any time.
- An organisation's owners and admins control that organisation's content. If you join an organisation you do not own, what you create there is subject to their decisions, including deletion.
- Leaving an organisation does not remove the nodes, edges or comments you created in it. Your personal organisation cannot be deleted separately from your account.
Your content
Your boards, nodes, edges and comments remain yours. You give us only the permission we need to run the service — to store, copy, transmit and display that content to the people you have given access to, and to make backups. We do not use it to train models and we do not sell it.
You are responsible for what you put on a board, for having the right to put it there, and for making sure it is lawful. NodeKanban has no file uploads: it is a place for project structure and text, not a document store or a backup.
Acceptable use
Do not use NodeKanban to:
- break the law, infringe someone else's rights, or store material you have no right to hold;
- send unsolicited invitations, or use invitations to spam people;
- probe, scan or attack the service or its infrastructure, or try to reach data belonging to another organisation;
- work around plan limits, rate limits or role restrictions, whether through the interface, the API or the database;
- resell or white-label the service without our written agreement.
Security research is welcome when it is done responsibly and reported to [SECURITY CONTACT EMAIL] rather than exploited. [STATE ANY SAFE-HARBOUR TERMS FOR SECURITY RESEARCHERS].
Plans, limits and payment
What each plan includes
Free costs nothing and holds up to 3 members, 3 boards and 150 nodes per board, with a flat (non-nested) graph. Pro is $9 per user per month and lifts those caps, allowing nesting three levels deep. Enterprise is the same product with a priority-support commitment behind it, arranged by contacting us rather than bought self-serve. The pricing page carries the full comparison. Limits are enforced inside the database as you write, so a write that would exceed one is refused rather than silently accepted.
What a paid plan does not include
None of the following exist, and none of them are sold on any plan. We list them because comparable tools have them and you may reasonably assume we do too:
- SSO or SAML of any kind.
- An audit log, activity history windows, or activity export. The underlying log records only organisation creation, member joins and board creation, and there is no interface to read or export it.
Buying a paid plan today buys the limits and roles it lists. If a feature above matters to your decision, [STATE WHAT A BUYER'S REMEDY IS — REFUND, CREDIT, OR NEITHER].
Billing
- Payment is by seat: every member of the organisation counts, whatever their role. The seat count is sent to Stripe whenever membership changes, and Stripe prorates the difference.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel, change the card or download invoices through the Stripe billing portal, reachable from the organisation's billing settings. Only owners can do this.
- Cancelling takes effect at the end of the paid period; you keep the paid plan until then.
- Prices are exclusive of taxes unless stated. [STATE WHO BEARS VAT / SALES TAX].
- [REFUND POLICY].
- If a payment fails we may suspend the paid features after [GRACE PERIOD].
- We may change prices on [NOTICE PERIOD] notice, effective at your next renewal.
Downgrading
Dropping to a smaller plan never deletes your work. Boards and nodes beyond the new limits become read-only instead, and become editable again if you upgrade. Deleting an organisation, however, permanently deletes every board, node, edge and comment in it, and does not by itself cancel anything held by Stripe.
Availability and changes to the service
We aim to keep NodeKanban available and to give notice before disruptive changes, but the service is provided without a formal uptime commitment. [STATE ANY SLA, OR SAY EXPLICITLY THAT THERE IS NONE]. We may add, change or withdraw features. If we withdraw something you are paying for, [STATE THE REMEDY].
Suspension and termination
You may stop using NodeKanban at any time; account deletion is currently handled by request to [SUPPORT CONTACT EMAIL]. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that is being used to harm the service or other users, or where payment has failed. Except where the breach is serious or unlawful, we will try to warn you first and give you a chance to put it right. After termination we may delete your data; [STATE THE PERIOD IN WHICH DATA CAN STILL BE RECOVERED].
Warranties and liability
NodeKanban is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
[LIABILITY CAP AND EXCLUSIONS — TO BE DRAFTED BY A LAWYER FOR THE CHOSEN JURISDICTION].
[INDEMNITY, IF ANY].
NodeKanban is a planning tool. Do not rely on it as the only record of anything you cannot afford to lose, and keep your own copies of work that matters.
Privacy
What we store and who else processes it is described in the privacy notice, which forms part of these terms. [IF YOU PROCESS PERSONAL DATA ON BEHALF OF BUSINESS CUSTOMERS, REFERENCE A DATA PROCESSING AGREEMENT HERE].
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For material changes we will give notice by [NOTICE METHOD] at least [NOTICE PERIOD] beforehand, and revise the date at the top. Continuing to use NodeKanban after a change takes effect means you accept it; if you do not, stop using the service and cancel.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING JURISDICTION], and disputes are subject to [COURTS OR DISPUTE RESOLUTION FORUM]. [ADD ANY MANDATORY CONSUMER-PROTECTION CARVE-OUTS THAT APPLY].
